China’s National People’s Congress and the top political advisory body, the CPPCC, continue their annual sessions in Beijing. president Xi Jinping says ethnic diversity is China’s strong point and he called on people to respect the differences.
Xi was speaking during his meeting with the Qinghai province delegation of the National People’s Congress. He encouraged ethnic minorities in the remote region to develop the economy with their own power.
Xi also asked local officials about their work, including questions about a nature reserve and medical services. He stressed the importance of protecting the environment and improving the livelihoods of herders and farmers.
