BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- China ranked third worldwide in citations of science and technology papers by the country’s researchers, a government think tank revealed on Wednesday.

Among the world’s most-cited papers in the past decade, Chinese scientists contributed 16,900 papers, or 12.8 percent of the global share, said a report by the Institute of scientific and Technical information under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
科技部科技信息研究所的一份报告称，在过去的十年里，中国是世界上论文引用量最大的国家之一，中国科学家发表论文16900篇，占世界总量12.8%。
China ranked second in citations worldwide in eight fields including mathematics,medicine and agricultural sciences, according to the institute.
据机构说，中国在八大领域世界引用量排名第二，包括数学医药和农业科学。
China moved up one spot in rank from the fourth in 2015, with just the United States and Britain ahead in the rankings this year, the institute said.
机构称，中国从2015年的第四上升一位，今年的排名仅次于美国和英国。
A total of 296,800 scientific papers indexed by the internationally recognized Science Citation Index have come from Chinese researchers, the second-highest number worldwide, according to the report.
据报告称，国际公认的科学文献索引共有296800篇科学论文来自中国研究人员，世界第二。
